Flowers, vegetable gardens...kids...I think the kids grow the fastest! We like to grow things around here. I wouldn't say I have a green thumb, but I do TRY to grow things. Every year Brian plants a vegetable garden, and so far the past few years it has turned out wonderful. The kids love to go out in the evenings and hunt for squash and tomatoes that are ready to be picked. Here are a few shots of our garden....
Don't you just love our little "watermelon family" ? Anna Beth and Rece can't wait to get their hands on those watermelons. I think we counted about 9 of them. I took the pics of the squash after we picked several big ones and made a yummy squash casserole. Okay...Brian made a yummy squash casserole. And since I've read so many other blogs and I know what will happen after people read this post. "Can I have your squash casserole recipe?" Of course!!!
5-6 medium sized squash
one whole (or half) an onion (depending on how much you want)
2 cans cream of chicken soup
small container of sour cream
1 package of stove top stuffing
shredded cheese
ritz crackers
Cut up squash and onions. Cook down the squash and onions with a little water and olive oil. Drain. Mix the squash, onions, cream of chicken, sour cream, and stop stove stuffing and pour into casserole dish. Cover with shredded cheese. Crush ritz crackers and sprinkle across the top. I even like to spray the crackers with spray butter. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until its bubbling and cheese is melted. Its that easy!
While Brian is great at gardening, I'll stick to flowers...
I'm leaving you with a few more pictures that I took this week, just because they are SOOO NEAT! We finally got some rain this week and it made the hummingbirds CRAZY!!
I could sit and watch them for hours!
